Presentations can focus on new and emerging pedagogy, trial curricula, analysis of outcomes of initiatives as part of: grant supported programs, course/ curriculum design, educational research and curriculum restructuring.
Historical perspectives of curricula evolution, unique Florida learning opportunities, out-of-state presenters and student initiatives and projects are welcome.
Posters are also welcome, and awards are presented for outstanding student (graduate and undergraduate). FAS offers travel awards to eligible students.
The Science Teaching Section (TCH) of FAS welcomes all educators of the natural, physical and associated sciences to attend and present. College level (graduate and undergraduate) as well as high school advanced course work and gifted curricula (AP, IB) have all been well represented.
Science teaching includes research in the field of scientific education. There is an emphasis on innovative teaching techniques and developing younger scientists to enter academic roles. This section aims to increase scientific literacy, problem solving, and communication of scientific data. Science teaching seeks to foster collaboration between K-12 and post-secondary educators and support the advancement of science education through research, professional development, and networking opportunities.
