The Academy’s journal has appeared under three titles: Proceedings of the Florida Academy of Sciences (1937–1944/1945), Quarterly Journal of the Florida Academy of Sciences (1945/1946–1972/1974), and Florida Scientist (1974 to present). The initial Charter and By-laws, adopted at the 6 February 1936 meeting of the organizing committee, provided for an annual publication and appointment of an editor [Hubbell TH (editor). 1937. Charter of the Florida Academy of Sciences and By-laws. Proc. Fla. Acad. Sci. 1:168–170.].
